High Voltage Primary Plant Test Electrician

Sunstate Electrical are specialists in the commissioning and maintenance of high voltage substations for both utility and private sector customers.  We are a Brisbane based company delivering high voltage services throughout Queensland and rural Australia. With growth in our testing, commissioning and maintenance work, we are seeking a high voltage substation electrician to join our team.

Job Specifics

  • commissioning, testing and maintenance of secondary systems, power transformers, primary plant and switchgear

  • preparing testing ad commissioning documentation including test sheets and reports

  • experience with electrical construction works, earthing, transformer and switchgear installation, panel wiring, fault finding and repair on HV switchgear.

Essential requirements

  • Qualified Electrical Fitter/Mechanic with a current Queensland Electrical Licence

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in the high voltage substation industry

  • General Construction Induction course (blue/white card)

  • Drivers Licence

  • Willing to travel throughout Queensland and rural Australia.

Desirable qualification & experience

  • Previous experience with a power authority  

  • Power station experience

  • HV Switching authorisation  

  • Current Standard 11 Mining Induction and Queensland Coal Board Medical.

Job Specific Requirements

As part of our growing construction and maintenance sector we require a High Voltage Substation Electrician.

Essential requirements

  • Queensland Electrical Licence

  • Previous High Voltage Substation Experience

  • Blue/White card

  • Drivers Licence

  • Willing to travel throughout Queensland

Desirable qualification & experience

  • Previous experience with Energex, Powerlink or Ergon Energy

  • Power station experience

  • HV Switching Ticket

  • HV Switchgear and Transformer maintenance experience

  • Experience in panel wiring, fault finding and repair on HV switchgear,

  • Earthing, cable tray, transformer and switchgear installation experience
